Hi and congratulations on your pregnancy!
I have come to midwifery after a having had a very fulfilling midwifery experience myself. I’ve experienced pregnancy, labour and post natal care in the USA, as well as in New Zealand, and the difference has ignited my passion for midwifery and the fantastic care that I can offer to women.
I am regularly awed and fascinated by the inherent strength of women and their babies, and find it a true blessing and privilege to be a part of this time in a woman's life. I approach each woman and her pregnancy with an open mind, and without judgment. I support and promote normal birth; and work in an evidence based manner. Working as a hospital midwife has also given me experience in complications of pregnancy and birth, and I will regularly consult with other health professionals.
I do not work in isolation, and am a part of a very supportive practice that regularly facilitates and supports home births, birthing centre births, hospital births and water births. I take a small caseload of women each month in order to be able to provide quality, individualised care, while keeping the woman and her wishes at the centre of my care.
I am also married to Ken, and we have two daughters who bring much fun and joy into our lives. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors (especially the beautiful beaches on the Coast!), reading, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
